Hometown: Santa Ana, California
Occupation: Key leader, Motivational Speaker
Adam's motivation to lose weight stemmed from a devastating personal loss - losing his best friend and mother, Nancy, at age 51 due to massive heart failure brought on by complications of diabetes and obesity. At that point, he knew he had to honor his mother by changing his life and getting healthy. Adam was always overweight, a combination of poor diet, lack of exercise, and overeating. He grew up with his younger brother in Santa Ana, California, and attended Orange Coast College and Cal State Fullerton.
Being 402 pounds at age 26, Adam wanted to lose weight and help motivate others, including family members struggling with obesity. He wanted to feel good about himself inside and out, travel with his brother and enjoy an active, healthy lifestyle. Adam lost 182 pounds on Season 10. He currently resides in Dallas, Texas. He is passionate about practicing yoga, running and CrossFit. He works as a Key Leader for Lululemon Athletica and as a Motivational Speaker. Adam still works alongside his family and the University of California - Irvine Medical Center to continue Nancy Downey-Hurtado’s drive to give back to the community.
